Chickens!

The first chickens have been here for almost two weeks now. Four lovely ladies keep me company here, along with the anogra rabbits and my cat. I decided to use the garden shed as a temporary chicken coop, and place the isolated pallet house inside. They have plenty of room to roam free inside the shed, safe from predators. I have stretched a extention cord from the house to be able to use heating here, as I don't have any electricity in the shed. I love having the chickens closer to the house, and be able to hear them having some discussions between themselves during the day!

It is such a cozy little house, and fits nicely as a temporary chicken coop. I love watching it from my kitchen window.

Putting the house together. A lot of insualtion is put in everywhere.

The chickens inspect their new home.

There is a lot of furniture here that has to be thrown away eventually because of the poor state they are in. But meanwhile they provide ample entertainment for the chickens.

The ladies lay two eggs almost every day. These are older birds, so I'm quite happy with that.

It actually sounds like a farm here now, with the chickens arriving! They are such easy and low maintainence farm animals, and it's no wonder they are often the first animals people get.

Have a great week, and see you in march! Spring is certainly in the air here.
